PRESS: M.Video to offer Smart TV sets under revived brand Novex

MOSCOW, Aug 3 (PRIME) -- Russian electronics retailer M.Video will sell devices including TV sets under own brand Novex, which first appeared in the 2000s, and experts think buyers can be enticed by relatively low price of branded gadgets, business daily Vedomosti reported on Monday.

The first product line will be branded TV sets with the diagonal of 24–65 inches, including with the Smart and high-definition functions, M.Video-Eldorado Group’s official Valeria Andreyeva told the newspaper.

The group explained its interest in Smart TV sets by a rise in demand for this category of electronics.

The country’s TV set market grew 7.5% on the year to 72 billion rubles and 16% to 3.4 million devices in January–June. The share of Smart TV sets was at 80% in money and 55% in units.

Novex TV sets will be manufactured in Russia.

M.Video-Eldorado first launched products under the Novex brand in 2006, but two years later the brand disappeared after failing to win a sizeable share in sales.
